December 2014 Favorites
I can't believe it is 2015 already. 2014 just flew! No matter what happened in 2014, good or bad, my favorite part has been creating and maintaining this blog. I am so grateful for my readers, and I'm also proud of myself for sticking to it and posting as much as possible. I hope 2015 brings big things for my blog, and I hope to interact with and meet more beauty bloggers!
Now, on to the real reason you're here: December Favorites!
My first favorite is a seasonal scent from Bath & Body Works, a scent that I look forward to each and every year, Winter Candy Apple! It is my absolute favorite scent hands down from Bath & Body Works, and it kills me that it's only available for a few short months every year. I literally stockpile this stuff!! Underneath my bathroom sink is bottle upon bottle of hand soap. In my kitchen several candles can be found. Lotion? Got it. Body Spray? Check. I just love this scent so much, and I hope that Bath & Body Works continues to bring this out during the holidays for years to come (or I'll be heartbroken!). My one request to Bath & Body Works (haha if they happen to read this!) is please bring back the rollerball perfume for next year. They were sold a few years ago but I haven't seen them since. They were perfect for my purse, and so great for gifting!
It seems that I am in a never-ending search to find the perfect primer. This primer from Coastal Scents was part of the haul I got from their Black Friday sale. Beginnings Face Primer is a silicone primer that comes in a beautiful glass bottle with a very convenient pump. Although I got it on sale, the normal price of $9.95 is incredibly reasonable for this 1 oz jar. Not only does the packaging make it feel high end, but the primer itself is fantastic. It feels much like the Smashbox and bareMinerals primers in texture, and does a very good job of smoothing out the skin to provide a good canvas for makeup. I will say that when I first unboxed it, the pump did not work at all. But some miracle must have happened because when I tried it a few days later, it worked just fine and dispenses a perfect amount of product. Love this primer.
My favorite liquid foundation of late is the Rimmel Match Perfection in Classic Ivory. Honestly, I only bought this because it was 50% off on clearance at CVS. I bought it on a whim, and I'm glad I did. I love the coverage this foundation provides. It never looks cakey, and it lasts a long time without deteriorating (when using primer). It applies beautifully with a damp beauty blender, and I tried it yesterday with a flat top buffer brush and I loved how it looked. My only complaint is that it is a soupy consistency, so I would appreciate a pump because it tends to get messy in the cap. It looks like in some countries they sell it with a pump, but alas, mine does not have one.
It's winter, and that means my skin goes into freak out mode and starts to dry out. The backs of my hands are the worst, where they get to the point of cracking. It's incredibly painful and tough to heal. I received a sample of Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream through Birchbox, and I really enjoyed the sample. I put it on the backs of my hands before I went to sleep, and the next morning my skin seemed so much better. When I got my Beauty Insider coupon to Sephora, I wandered through the store for half an hour to figure out what I wanted, when I finally saw the full sized tube of this miracle worker and grabbed it immediately! I've been using this regularly ever since, and I'm pleased to report that my hands have been really moisturized so far and haven't cracked. This has a very strong medicine odor at first, but it dissipates completely within a few minutes. It's a small tube, but a little goes a long way so I don't expect needing to repurchase until next winter.
As we say goodbye to 2014, I wish everyone reading this the best 2015 ever. May you have health, happiness, and a wonderful new year!!
xoxo CKellyBlush
