It's getting so dang hot! Summer is definitely upon us once again, which means it's time to look at our makeup collections and switch things up! The heavier foundations are hibernating until winter, the deep berry lipstick will wait until November, and the just-in-from-the-snow look is traded for just-back-from-the-beach. The three blushes I've been reaching for as the weather heats up all remind me of the juicy strawberries, melons, raspberries, and apricots the season brings. Give me the fun, fruity colored blushes this summer, I'm eating them up!
These three blushes are not only gorgeous, but are wonderfully pigmented and all from the drugstore so they're affordable!
Makeup Revolution The Matte Blush in New Rules: Do not be afraid of this blush! The almost fluorescent shade can be jarring at first, but it is so different and saturated that the color just draws me in.
It is so far from every other blush color I own, it is perfect for that "out of the ordinary" look. The beautiful mix of strawberry and melon is made for summer. A light hand and a good blend gives a healthy rush of color to the cheeks.
CoverGirl Tru Blend Blush in Medium Rose: I had heard so many mixed reviews of this blush line that I resisted for a long time. But on a recent trip to Harmon, I discovered it on clearance and I had a coupon, so of course I got it!
I love the medium shade, it's actually perfect for my pale skin. It's a great mix of pink and purple, it reminds me of raspberries. It blends nicely and lasts a long time, even during the sweaty summer months.
Wet n Wild Color Icon in Apri-Cot in the Middle: Hands down one of my favorite blushes, especially for the summer. This apricot shade is incredibly flattering, and the subtle shimmer built in is beautiful and not garish at all.
To me, this shade is perfect for people who want to bronze but either a) have no idea how to do it without looking orange, or b) don't want to bronze and just want to add some color back into the skin. The hint of brown in it slims out the face a bit and adds some life. It's not a bronzer or contour shade by any means, but it has some of those characteristics in it that I feel like I don't need to bronze or contour after applying. I even use it on my eyelids and above the brow bone. It's just a naturally pretty color.
These three blushes are going to be making the rotations in my makeup bag all summer long. Beautiful, affordable, and fun? The trifecta of awesome!

New Rules reminds me a bit of MAC's Dollymix. It looks super scary in pan, but actually is a lovely shade.
