Winter Favorites 2016

Happy Spring, lovelies! We made it through winter in one piece, and while everyone is looking forward to the changing season and the spring makeup, I'd like to take a moment and reveal what were my favorite products this past winter. These beauty goodies kept me looking gorgeous this season, and come with the CKellyBlush stamp of approval.

The foundation I was reaching for during these cold months was the CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous. This is a fantastic foundation, providing great coverage at an affordable price.

I loved that this foundation kept my skin from drying out this winter. Although not really a "moisturizing" formula by any means, it has a nice dewy feel to it. My skin looked great and not dry or ashy. It also does not stick to any dry patches or flakiness, which is a huge plus for me as my combo skin is more dry in the winter. The coverage is at least a medium and is buildable, and easily evens out acne scars and blemishes. My one suggestion, however, is to buy the foundation at a store like Ulta where they have the room for more color choices. My shade, 105, is the lightest in the range but most drugstores start their colors at 110 which is too dark for me.

My HG setting powder this winter was the Physicians Formula Super BB #InstaReady Filter Trio BB Powder.

At first I thought the #InstaReady line was very gimmicky, but I actually really love this powder and the bronzer from the same line. This powder has three shades in it, #NudeFilter, #HealthyGlow, and #Sunset. In theory, you could probably use the shades separately but I swirl them all together and use them to set my foundation and concealer. It's still fairly transparent on the skin, but provides a slight touch of color that gives a healthy boost to my skin. It doesn't crease at all, and does a decent job of keeping my makeup in place. Also, I love that it has SPF 30, that's always a bonus.

Nothing beats a rosy wash of color on the cheeks in the winter, and the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in the shade Pampered provided that perfect glow.

At first I was not a huge fan of this blush, I found the formula very dry in the pan. However, I think that maybe that was just the top layer of powder because now it's rich and pigmented. The Pampered shade is such a natural, beautiful color and gives off the illusion of coming in from the snow. The muted, mauve pink is a wonderful flush of color that lasts all day. Love, love, love this blush.

Looking for the perfect wintery, frosty highlight? Then this is the absolute perfect shade. It's got the right mix of silver, gold, and white in an iridescent, soft and buttery formula. Add a touch for a healthy glow, or go nuts with a heavy hand and pretend like you're a fierce Ice Queen. It's such a lovely highlighter.

As we all spruce up our makeup routines for spring, these beauties held a special place in my heart this past winter.
